Color Exchange

Here is what I received from Karen for the August Color Exchange. It came all wrapped up in the green tissue paper underneath it. I love the stuff and as you can see in the background so does Charlie one of my cats. I couldn't get her to stay away and when I was trying to get pictures she kept laying in the middle of the stuff. Now what is there is some threads, a toothbrush holder that it just so happens I do need, a towel and aida cloth, a clipboard, a pin cushion with scissors and a frog sponge thingy, sorry don't know what it is called, I guess a body scrubber would be a good name,LOL. Also a card with a cat on it. Siamese cats happen to be my favorite kind of cat. I love it. I hope my partner loves her stuff as much as I do.

Well I haven't had much time to stitch on the 12 days this week.I have been working on a set of beach coasters for my daughters friend who just got married. I am going to work on it this weekend though. I have missed it. It has been so hot. This last week we broke 3 temp records or it may have been 4. It doesn't matter to me, it was just plain HOT!!! I will let you guys know what I have gotten done on it next week.

Day 6

I got day 6 done. I think they are looking pretty good. I got it done on Sunday. the last couple of days have been nuts. Last night I started day 7 sitting in the ER with my daughter Gretchen. She fell and hurt her wrist. It may be broken. There is a bone in your wrist which is hard to tell if it is broken, the Dr said it could be up to 3 weeks before we can tell. When she gets back home to WV she will go to her regular Dr and they will x-ray it again. Hopefully it is just a severe sprain. It is splinted and in a sling to keep it elevated to keep the swelling down. Then I found out today someone got a hold of my debit card number and has been trying to use it for off the wall stuff. So my card is cancelled and I won't have a new one for about a week to 10 days. I guess this is just going to be the week from hell. I should have known something was coming when I had to leave work because of a severe migraine. It kind of went down hill from there. It is just crazy. I think I need a vacation. Well I guess i should get back to work now. I will post again in a day or so.

Day 5 Finish

As you can see I have finished day 5. There are 2 versions of day 5 but I liked this one the best. I have also got day 6 started. I still cannot believe how quick these are going. This has been one of those weeks so I didn't get as much done on day 6 as I would like. I had to take my daughter to the ER and that is where I got the most stitched. Imagine that, lol waiting in a waiting room at the ER and getting allot done. Don't worry, nothing super serious and she is better. Also I got a TomTom for my birthday. For anyone that doesn't know that is a portable GPS. I have absolutely no sense of direction and after about 3 years of asking (begging) I finally got one. I am so glad. I have been using it to go everywhere. I know but it is neat. Here are the flowers I got for my birthday. They are pretty. Don got me the roses my mom got me the others, that came with an TY angel bear.
Well that is all for now. I will post again soon.

Day 4 Finish

As you can see I finally got Day 4 finished. I just absolutely love the colors in these. I have started Day 5. I thought I was going to have to wait because I can't find the material I cut and prepared to do days 5 to 8 but I found a piece of material and cut and prepared it for stitching and was able to start. I am finding that these make me just want to keep stitching every chance I get.

On another note. I just talked to my mom and found out that a friend of the family and someone who we cared so much about. We grew up with his kids and he was just a very good man passed away yesterday. From what my mother told me he went to the hospital at 5 in the morning with a aortic aneurysm and didn't survive the surgery. This is heartbreaking. I just don't know what to say about this. I will think on this for awhile and see what I come up with.

Day 3

Even though I was sick and from what I am told, extremely grumpy, this past weekend I was able to finish day 3. Don, Gretchen and me moved a chair that I could recline in and rest into my room where I do all my crafts. I stitched off and on Friday night and Saturday and got day 3 done. I was a lot further along than I thought so that helped. I also did just a bit on day 4 yesterday, I started feeling better. Thank God for antibiotics, lol. I feel a bit better today but not 100%. I can't believe how fast these are going. Day 4 is going to be even quicker I think. It seems like there may be less stitching to day 4. Kathy, thank you for the get well wish I appreciated it very much. Well I am supposed to be working so I should get back to work but I will keep you posted.

Progress

Well here it is Friday night. I am about half done with day 3. I finally checked the name of the designer for the scissors patterns. Meridel Abrams. I think I have all the scissors patterns not just the 12 Days of Christmas. I am hoping to get a lot of stitching done this weekend but we will see. I am sick. I have an ear infection and sore throat and a low grade fever. i sure hope it stays low grade. I am taking an antibiotic so we will see what happens.
Don got back from his business trip. He brought me a mini New York New York statue. It is pretty neat. He also brought me a polo shirt with the logo on it. I really love them. I will post a photo of them when I take one. I haven't taken one of my progress yet because I just don't feel like it. I keep trying to lay down but I can't seem to be comfortable, so I figured I would post here and them try laying down again.
Well I think I am gonna try now so I will post more when I feel better, hopefully the meds will kick in soon and I will feel more like it. And on Monday I think I will thank Monica (one of Don's CSR's) for giving this to me.

Day 2 Finish

As you can see I got Day 2 finished over the weekend. I also managed to start day 3. It seems that lately I am only able to stitch on the weekend. This past weekend I didn't really do too much anyway. I didn't feel like it. It was one of those weekends. Don is in Las Vegas for a business trip and Gretchen and I just hung out at home. I keep trying to get her to try cross stitch but she isn't cooperating LOL. I am trying to get her into something that she can see an accomplishment. I think she needs something like that but she doesn't seem to want to do any of that stuff. Oh well. I am also hoping that I will hear from my son in the near future. At the end of August Melissa will be heading to basic and AIT for the ARMY National Guard. I sometimes find it hard to believe that my kids are adult age. I sure don't feel like I am old enough to have kids their ages but according to my birth certificate I am, LOL. Well I must get some work done so that's it for now. I hope everyone has a great week.

Day 2 Progress

Well as you can see I have been working on day 2. It is coming along nicely I think. These stitch up so quickly. I love them. I see the progress and don't get discouraged because it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. I am thinking that maybe I will try and put them into a quilt or something like that. We will see how that goes.

It has been so hot lately so I have been able to sit and stitch. Last night I sat outside on the back patio and and there was a slight breeze. It was nice to be able to do that. We are supposed to get thunderstorms for the next couple of days but I am not counting on it. It would be nice though. Well that is all for now. Can't wait for the finished product.

Day 1 Finish

I got Day 1 finished yesterday. I really like the way it turned out. The only thing different that I did was change the year from 2006 to 2007 since I am doing it this year. I started Day 2 yesterday evening.
On another note yesterday was July 4th. It was pretty uneventful. It was strange having a day off in the middle of the week but on the other hand it makes the week seem shorter. We work today and tomorrow and are off for 2 days. I think I can deal with that.
We are supposed to have thunderstorms today. I hope so. The sky is getting dark so maybe. We quite often have them predicted especially at this time of the year but then don't get them. I just feel like it would be nice to clean up the air. We will see what happens. Hope you all had a good 4th of July. Will update again soon.

More progress

I was lucky enough to be able to stitch a bunch this weekend. As you can see I got a lot accomplished. I am really motivated on this. I really like the colors so maybe that is why. I am looking forward to getting going on day 2. These seem to stitch up quickly. No back stitching which I like. On these I don't think they would look as nice if there was back stitching.

I am trying to convince my daughter who is visiting to let me teach her to stitch. To give her something creative and constructive to do but I can't seem to get her interested. Wish I could but maybe she will keep seeing how much I love it and give in. We will see. We thought my other daughter was going to come for a visit before she leaves this summer for basic and AIT for the ARMY National Guard but doesn't look like that is going to happen. Oh well, she says she wants to spend Christmas with me so hopefully that will happen. I will keep my fingers crossed. Maybe I will be able to get the whole crew together for a change. I would love that.

12 Days progress

This is a couple of days of stitching. Haven't really had a chance to do much but am trying hard to stitch at least a few minutes each day. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way, LOL, but I do try.
I am so proud of myself, I figured out, finally, how to post pictures to my blog. : )
It is so hot here. Yesterday it was 106 degrees I am not sure what the temp is today but it is pretty close, if not there. Oh well, what can i expect? I live in the middle of the desert.
Hope you like what I am stitching.

Stitching

I got the scissors patterns of the 12 Days of Christmas started. Finally, LOL.It is coming along nicely. I am so glad I finally am at it again. I just wasn't motivated at all for a while. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will do that as they progress. Well until the next time.

Saturday, June 16, 2007

Hi all, same old same old here.
My oldest daughter has been here for a couple of weeks. I think she is starting to get bored. She is here for the summer. She wants to get a job for the summer. I hope she does. Then of course she won't be so bored.
Well I haven't been doing much stitching lately. I can't seem to get motivated for some reason. I am trying to do the 12 Days of Christmas scissors designs and the person's name who designed them has just totally left my mind. I will have to check that out so I can give her proper credit. I think I am going to try and make myself sit down and stitch just a little everyday, then maybe I will just get it done. We will see.
We are supposed to have thunderstorms today. I was kind of hoping for one but hasn't happened yet. I remember at my grandparents house, part of their roof was metal. I love that sound of the rain hitting the metal roof. Its comforting some how.Well it is almost time for the Saturday sci-fi movie and my daughter and I watch it every Saturday night. I will post again soon.

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day. I got to hear from all three of my kids and my daughter-in-law. It was great. Timothy called on Thursday or Friday so it was early but he sent me flowers for mother's day. They are beautiful. This was a nice day, but I had to cook. Wasn't to happy about that but oh well. I made scallops. I hadn't ever cooked those before and they came out excellent.
Thursday I started reading a new book. It is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. It is very good so far. I believe it is autobiographical but she changes the names and things like that. I saw the movie, Sylvia, that is about her. It has Gweneth Paltrow in it as Sylvia Plath. That is how I got interested in reading this book. I think I will find out more about her and read more of her works if I can find them. I think that she was a very tortured soul. What a shame to live and feel like she did and to be such an excellent writer, at least in my opinion. I had been reading the Harry Potter series but read 3 in a row and had to stop but once I get done with this book I think I will finish the fourth book.
I started a new cross stitch project it is a one colored heart. While I am on my daughters graduation ceremony trip I am going to start a series that is scissors. It is the 12 days of Christmas. I am excited to get started on them but I am waiting until I am on my trip.
Well there isn't much more right now so I will go. I will be back soon.

One Day

ONE DAY

One day you will come to know me
As I am not as I appear to be
You will see what is in my heart not what is in my face
One day you will touch me and feel what I feel not pity or sorrow
One day you will hold me and feel me tremble,
not from tears or fear but happiness
One day you will kiss me, not out of friendship,
but to feel what I feel and know that there is so
much more possible.

One day

My Space

Today I was on myspace.com. I was just looking around checking people out on my friends, friends lists. I was so surprised at some of the stuff on these pages and the way that people complain about this person or that person or how this one infringes on the way their life is going. What was worse was that they didn't seem to want to do anything but bitch about it. I try to talk things out and not criticize and yes I know that it isn't easy but for crying out loud, grow up, pick up after yourself and get over it. I do get frustrated about that stuff too but I have too much other stuff to do than worry about little stuff. OK I think I am done being "crazy" about this stuff. Sorry just thought I would vent a little. Haven't done that in awhile. Hope you all have a good day!
Okay, today is 05/13/2007. I edited this post and took something out because I felt I really didn't need it here. If you read the original post and were offended I apologize. I was a little angry and have since decided I didn't really need that in here. Thanks for reading my blog.

Happy Birthday

It is the 25th of April and is my sons 24th birthday. I can't celebrate it with him because he is in Iraq. I can only hope he is able to atleast celebrate a little. I think I will have a glass of wine and think happy thoughts about him. A mini celebration of my own for him. He never wants anything so when I ask he always says I don't know. I guess he is a typical man (lol). I will put an extra treat in the next box I send him. I think extra oreos. Well son if you happen to be able to read this HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I love and miss you so much!

Back Again....

Well, I found out recently that my son's tour in Iraq has been extended to February. That really sucks. Melissa is going to graduate end of May and I will be there. Gretchen is doing good. She still has some time to go before she graduates from college.
It is nice weather so everything is growing and allergies galore. Don has been in PA for almost a week and I have been home alone. Kind of peaceful but lonely too. I am going to cut some pieces out to start work on another quilt. I have two patterns and am having trouble deciding. I am also getting ready to start working on the Monopoly Board. A friend of mine lent me her pattern for it so I need to get hot on that.
I can't believe it is almost the end of April already. On Tuesday I have jury duty. Oh fun. The last time I went I got picked. Hopefully I won't get picked this time. I don't have anyone to cover my office. It was an interesting experience that is for sure. With about 750,000 people give or take here I can't believe I get sent a letter every year. Its crazy. Oh well. I will let you know what happens.
Well I will go for now. I think the cat is messing with the birds and the other cat. Fuzzball is hissing that only means Charlie is messing with her. Gotta get the spray bottle! Talk to you soon.
